Maya graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1987 with a degree in Culinary Arts. After 10 years in the hotel and restaurant industry, she transitioned to grocery retail in 1997, joining Whole Foods Market as a Kitchen Manager. Over 20 years, she advanced from Kitchen Manager to Culinary Coordinator for the Midwest Region. Seeking a simpler lifestyle, Maya moved to the Northwoods in 2017 and began working for Trig’s as a Culinary Coordinator. She was later promoted to her current role as Director of Deli Operations and Culinary Development.
Maya holds an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, is a Certified Health Coach in Plant-Based Nutrition, and is certified in Culinary Art Research and Development. She is also Serve Safe Certified as a Food Production Manager and holds CPR & AED Red Cross First Aid Certification. Over the course of her career, Maya has received multiple accolades, including being a 4-time All-Star Performer at Whole Foods Market and the 2024 Outstanding Business Leader award at Trig’s.
Her passion lies in creating new recipes and programs, with a particular focus on delivering fresh, high-quality food in the deli. She enjoys the family-owned, community-focused culture at Trig’s and takes pride in remodeling deli departments, revamping gourmet cheese areas, redesigning catering programs, and implementing the central production facility in the Smokehouse building.
In her spare time, Maya enjoys snowmobiling, gardening, kayaking, snowshoeing, and other outdoor activities. Her passion word is "Food" because it is central to both health and family gatherings. Cooking for her family at a young age ignited her love for cooking, which she continues to enjoy today.
